Progress Monitoring #5, April 12th Reflection...
Did your students meet their learning goals for the year?
No. Out of my 14 students, only 2 met their learning goal.
Two things: this is as of today April 15 with 6 weeks left of school. If this would have a completion date in May, I could chalk up about 10 students reaching their learning goal. Its fair to say that the students who did not reach their targeted skill were only 1 level away from reaching their goal.
Another thing I noticed is that there I feel there is a huge discrepancy between the Initial Student Skill Profile and our Targeted Skill Report. There is a disconnect between the 2 rubrics, maybe next year we can just use the Targeted Skill Report to profile students at the beginning of the year.
How will you change your instructional design and delivery for this SLO next school year?
Im not too sure. Kind of still letting this set in, not the results I was expecting when I filled this out back early in the year. I will always look for opportunities to become a better teacher at teaching my kids how to become writers. I will continue to look for opportunities for my students to write in any subject. We will need to revisit the Initial Skill profile and the Targeted SKill Report, maybe I can get a better projection of my students writing.
